Queen Charlotte’s Villeins, Central Virginia’s newest regional Shakespeare performance troupe, is thrilled to launch NIGHTS of VILLEINY, a series of local theatrical revues combining Shakespearean scene and monologue performance. The First NIGHT of VILLEINY will debut on February 25, 2025, at the Stage at WTJU in Charlottesville, Virginia, at 7pm.
The NIGHTS of VILLEINY are the backbone of the VIlleins’ mission to share their love of Shakespeare with the community. Each revue is composed of bite-sized scenes and monologues from various Shakespeare works, selected and crafted by the Villeins to provide audiences with brief, digestible bits of classical theatre, framed in a vaudeville-like style. The variety of characters, stories, and themes on display highlights the creativity and flexibility of each performer within their “Villein” persona, as well as the unbridled universality of the Bard’s works.
Between each piece, the Villeins also provide some helpful info to help everyone to better enjoy the experience. This can include backstory on the plot, the meanings of certain words or references, as well as various other fun facts about Shakespeare, his art, his world, and his influence on modern culture.

A portion of all proceeds will be contributed to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles in honor of the victims of the disastrous wildfires.
